Welcome to my programme 12 steps to a healthy living. I want to share with you my tricks and tips that have helped me to reduce inflammation in my body and get rid of my asthma. I had been
taking steroids (Seretide diskus 500 - Advair in U.S.) for 10 years, since I couldn't breathe without wheezing, coughing and at the end of every winter I would get bronchitis that needed more
medication, antibiotics or oral steroids. Since I applied the 12 rules my programme is about, I've seen a tremendous improvement of my condition, so that eventully I could stop my
medication UNDER SUPERVISION OF MY GP - that part is very important, NEVER STOP your medication WITHOUT A MEDICAL OPINION. It is really important because especially steroids can create a sort
of addiction and it can be devastating for your body to go "cold turkey", as it can bring serious heart troubles. You may need to reduce your medication little by little before
stopping it in order to let to your body enough time to adjust. If you don't have any medical condition, better for you and you still can follow my plan, if you wish to improve your diet,
beautify your skin or increase your energy.
The programme is planned for 12 weeks, each step is to be implemented and repeted every day during a week, and the following week, you'll add the next step and so on and so forth till
the final 12th week, when you should already see some significant results.
So let's start with:
STEP 1 - HYDRATION
It may seem strange to ask you to drink but how many of you have difficulties to drink water and especially the FIRST THING IN THE MORNING? But it's very important to drink water after you wake
up because you didn't drink during your night, which means up to 8 hours without hydrating and as our body is made up of liquids, water is necessary for its good functioning.
In the summer, I drink fresh water with juice of half a lemon, in the winter, I pour some warm water (not hot, as it destroys vitamin C in the lemon) over a slice of organic, non-waxed and
unpeeled lemon. I leave it infuse for some time and then I drink it. Sometimes, when I feel too cold, I add a small piece of diced fresh ginger to warm me up.
During the day, I drink more water, green tea or herbal tea. I occasionnaly buy sparkling water but I check the sodium content before because some of mineral sparkling waters can be very
rich in salt, which causes me water retention and I can feel it very quickly, when I can't fit into my boots as my calves and ankles have swallen.
If you don't like the taste of water, you can add fresh mint leaves or some frozen berries, they add a pleasant fragrance to water.
If you really need some sweeteness, add half a teaspoon of raw honey or maple syrup into your big glass or a little bit of stevia but at all cost avoid sugar, since your food contains
already so much of it, that there is no need to drink it.
Tip of the week: Whenever you need to go to the bathroom, drink a big glass of water before or if you work on PC the whole day, you can plan
some regular reminders in your Outlook, that will remind you to drink!
